Noor Nuyten's Waving The Future acquired by Rijksmuseum

Rijksmuseum Amsterdam has acquired Noor Nuyten's Waving the Future. The work is a flag Nuyten designed together with fellow artists Sjoerd van Leeuwen and Harald den Breejen: an adaptation of the Dutch national flag made from recycled PET bottles. The sea and waves have long been recurring, poetic motifs in Nuyten's work, but as climate change turns into a concrete threat of drought, fire and flooding, water has lost its innocence. In a simple yet sharp image, Waving the Future warns of what lies ahead for the Netherlands if we fail to act.
