Alicia Framis takes part in Amor en juego (Love in Play), the tenth edition of Hors Pistes Málaga at the Centre Pompidou Málaga.
Love is everywhere, in songs, films, stories and images, yet it remains one of the most elusive emotions. Bringing together artists from different generations, Love in Play explores the narratives, representations and mechanisms around romantic relationships. Love often feels like a game of seduction, language, appearances and roles, but that game is never innocent: behind its thrill lie power dynamics, expectations and sometimes forms of domination. The works look at how words shape feelings, how new technologies transform encounters and how identities are constructed in the eyes of others.
For Hybrid Couple, shown as a filmed performance, Framis married AiLex, a hologram, in Rotterdam in 2024. Portraying a romantic relationship between a human being and an artificial intelligence, the work challenges the heteronormative standards by which society defines a couple. At the same time, Framis reflects on her own relationship to solitude and asks how human relationships might evolve in an increasingly individualistic world.
