Joan Heemskerk won the main prize of 10.000 euros and the promotional prize of 5.000 euros went to de la Fuente Gutiérrez. Both prize winners “stand for an unconventional view and reflective approach towards digital technologies” minister Isabel Pfeiffer-Poensgen explained.

Since 1996, the state of NRW has been honoring outstanding artistic achievements by woman through awarding the Der Künstlerinnenpreis des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen. The award mainly focuses on disciplines like sculpture, choreography, jazz music, photography and since this year digital art.
