Nestor Siré shows new work with latency.club, the collaborative platform he initiated with Steffen Köhn in the group exhibition The Mechanics of Truth at Medialab Matadero, Madrid.

The Mechanics of Truth at Medialab Matadero, Madrid, curated by Bani Brusadin, brings together a new generation of artists researching the technocultural mechanisms that reshape what we call ‘the real’.

Also on view is work by Martyna Marciniak, Anna Engelhardt and Mark Cinkevich, and Lucia Rebolino with Riccardo Petrini.

latency.club presents the new work Oracle Index. In what the duo call an ‘imaginary ethnography’, a fictional anthropologist, grounded in their own fieldwork, gathers evidence of how Santería, the centuries-old La Bolita number lottery, AI and blockchain-based betting markets come together in a near-speculative Cuba, where the Communist Party has turned to prediction markets to survive an ever-tightening embargo. The work asks whether algorithmic governance might be not just a capitalist gamble or a crypto fantasy of deregulation, but a survival strategy against both.
