Jan Robert Leegte in Cryptoart: Latent Territories at Fundación Paiz, Guatemala City
Jan Robert Leegte takes part in Criptoarte: Territorios Latentes (Cryptoart: Latent Territories), an international group exhibition at Fundación Paiz in Guatemala City, curated by Benoît Couty (0x4rt) and Frank Neidig (Flux Collective). The exhibition brings together more than 30 artists and collectives, including IX Shells, Justin Aversano, Alotta Money, Kim Asendorf, XCOPY and Refik Anadol.
Through digital art, generative systems, artificial intelligence, blockchain and decentralised communities, the exhibition explores the invisible spaces where tomorrow's realities are taking shape, asking what our place is in a world where the boundaries between the natural and the synthetic are increasingly blurred.
Leegte presents Walled Garden (2025), a digital garden of trees, grasses and overgrowth, enclosed by a high circular wall. Wind moves through the foliage, the sun and moon pass overhead, and at its centre lies a sculptural scrollbar, half relic, half digital readymade. The garden can only be seen through 150 openings in the wall, each corresponding to one NFT in the collection: a sanctuary that can be looked at, and looked back from, even owned, but never entered.
It is the first cryptoart exhibition in Guatemala and launches a new digital art programme at Fundación Paiz, with support from the embassies of France and Germany.
