Explorations of Uncertainty
artists' visions on quantum

Reality, once regarded as stable and predictable, is increasingly understood through quantum physics as a space shaped by ambiguity, probability, and chance. A space in which everything can be connected to everything else, even across great distances in time and place.

Exhibition Explorations of Uncertainty, artists’ visions on quantum, at MU Eindhoven, explores this space of possibilities. The exhibition takes fundamental concepts and discoveries from quantum physics and translates them into visual, acoustic, and interactive artworks. Among which art by Joan Heemskerk.

The exhibition brings together international artists who transform scientific concepts such as superposition, entanglement, and probability into sensory experiences that also invite critical reflection. Some works have emerged from direct collaboration with quantum scientists or even quantum computers, while others draw inspiration from quantum theory to imagine new ways of perceiving the world. Through the lens of quantum theory, the world appears fluid, non-binary, and open to many interpretations.

Participating artists:
Adriana Knouf, Alice Bucknell, Amanda E. Metzger, Annika Kappner, Ayoung Kim, Elisa Storelli, Encor Studio, Gunseli Yalcinkaya, Joan Heemskerk, Libby Heaney, Marina Otero Verzier, Sara Kolster & Semiconductor.
