Upstream Gallery presents pioneering digital artist Rafaël Rozendaal at Enter Art Fair Copenhagen.

Rafaël Rozendaal's (NL, 1980) institutional recognition has recently garnered momentum with a major solo exhibition at the Folkwang Museum in Essen, Germany (2023), followed by his current solo presentation at MoMA, New York, which continues through fall 2025.
At the MoMA 25 of Rozendaal's signature colorful and immersive digital works are on view at a monumental, high-resolution digital wall—measuring over 7 meters high and wide.
These landmark exhibitions have solidified Rozendaal's position as one of the most important digital artists at work today.

At Enter Art Fair, Upstream Gallery will present Rozendaal's digital work alongside his recent foray into painting. This development marks a new chapter in the artist's exploration of how digital technology can inform traditional media. Rozendaal’s painting practice stems from a fascination with the tactile, imperfect experience that painting offers, in contrast to the limitless control of digital media. Using a roller and diluted paint, he builds up layers that create depth and texture, with colour often serving as an intuitive starting point. His figuration is minimal and functions as an abstract language, reducing recognizable forms to their essence, reminiscent of the visual language of his digital work.
