Stedelijk Museum selects Kévin Bray for "Proposals for the museum collection"

Kévin Bray and Mandy Franca are selected to be part of the "Proposals for the museum collection" exhibition at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, during which the museum will announce to acquire some of the participating works for it's collection.

Every two years, the Stedelijk organizes a comprehensive group exhibition of work by artists or designers living and/or working in the Netherlands. The starting point is always a discipline or a current theme. The theme for 2024 is in line with the museum's new direction on photography, concentrating on works that are explicitly at the intersection of fine art and photography.

This year, the choice came about on the basis of nominations by some 20 scouts from the field, who submitted a longlist to a jury. The jury, consisting of Ahmet Polat (editor-in-chief of broadcaster HUMAN, photographer, curator, film and theatre maker), Amal Alhaag (curator, researcher and co-initiator/facilitator of a.o. Metro54 and formerly the Side Room), Laurens Otto (curator and critic), Sara Blokland (visual artist, researcher and curator), and the curators of the exhibition: co-curator Mirelva Berghout (independent curator and cultural programmer) and Vincent van Velsen (curator of contemporary art and photography Stedelijk Museum and chairman) consulted to jointly arrive at the selection.
